How to Import a World Save on Your Enshrouded Server

Updated 1 September 2026 · By Host Havoc Technical Support Team

You can transfer a world save from your local PC to your Enshrouded server using the Game Panel File Manager. This lets you continue an existing singleplayer or local world on a dedicated server.

If you need to start fresh after uploading, see our guide on reinstalling your server to reset to a clean state instead.

Note: Enshrouded 1.0 uses a new save format with .ksd files. Saves from version 0.8 or earlier are backed up and converted to the new format automatically the first time they are loaded.

Locate your local save file

Since version 1.0, local world saves are stored at:

C:\Users\<WindowsUser>\Saved Games\keen games\Enshrouded\default

If your world is saved to Steam Cloud instead (the Steam Cloud tab in the world selection menu), the files are at:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<accountID>\1203620\remote\

Sort the folder by date modified and copy the most recent world .ksd file.

Upload the save to your server

  1. Log in to the Game Control Panel and navigate to your Enshrouded server.
  2. Stop your server if it is running.
  3. Click File Manager in the panel.
  4. Navigate to the savegame folder.
  5. Download the existing world0.ksd file as a backup, then delete it from the server.
  6. Upload your world .ksd file and rename it to world0.ksd.
  7. Start your server.

Your server will load the uploaded world on next startup.

Import a save from before version 1.0

If your world is from Early Access (version 0.8 or earlier), upload the old save files (for example 3ad85aea, 3ad85aea_info and 3ad85aea-index) to the savegame folder instead, without renaming them. On startup, the server moves the old files to the migrated folder and converts the world to the 1.0 format.

Troubleshooting

  • If the world does not load, confirm the server was fully stopped before the upload and that the file is named world0.ksd and sits directly in the savegame folder.
  • The server keeps rotating copies of the world in savegame/backup. You can restore one of these if an upload goes wrong.
  • Contact support if the issue persists.
