Updated June 10, 2026 · By Host Havoc Technical Support Team

When your server is first provisioned, it uses a placeholder admin password. Change it before sharing access with anyone, then add the server to your in-game favorites to connect. Once you can join, you may want to become an admin so you can manage players in-game.

Change the server admin password

  1. Log in to your server's game control panel.
  2. Find the Change Admin Password button on the left-hand side, shown with a lock icon.
  3. When prompted, type your new password and click Run.
  4. Wait for the script to finish. Your new password is now active.

Add the server to your favorites and join

  1. Launch Project Zomboid.
  2. Click the Join icon in the main menu.
  3. On the right-hand side, click Add to Favorites.
  4. Enter a nickname in the Favorite Name field.
  5. Enter your server's IP address in the IP field. For example, if your connection info is 104.192.227.53:8766, enter 104.192.227.53.
  6. Leave the Local IP field blank.
  7. Enter your server's port in the Port field. Using the example above, the port is 8766.
  8. If your server has a password, enter it in the Server Password field.
  9. Leave the description blank.
  10. Create an Account Username and Account Password when prompted. This prevents other players from using your username on the server.
  11. Click Add, select the server from your list, and click Join.
