Getting Started: How to Join Your Project Zomboid Server
When your server is first provisioned, it uses a placeholder admin password. Change it before sharing access with anyone, then add the server to your in-game favorites to connect. Once you can join, you may want to become an admin so you can manage players in-game.
Change the server admin password
- Log in to your server's game control panel.
- Find the Change Admin Password button on the left-hand side, shown with a lock icon.
- When prompted, type your new password and click Run.
- Wait for the script to finish. Your new password is now active.
Add the server to your favorites and join
- Launch Project Zomboid.
- Click the Join icon in the main menu.
- On the right-hand side, click Add to Favorites.
- Enter a nickname in the Favorite Name field.
- Enter your server's IP address in the IP field. For example, if your connection info is
104.192.227.53:8766, enter104.192.227.53. - Leave the Local IP field blank.
- Enter your server's port in the Port field. Using the example above, the port is
8766. - If your server has a password, enter it in the Server Password field.
- Leave the description blank.
- Create an Account Username and Account Password when prompted. This prevents other players from using your username on the server.
- Click Add, select the server from your list, and click Join.
