How to Become an Admin on Your Project Zomboid Server

Admin access lets you use in-game commands to manage players, spawn items, and control the server. You have two options: grant admin to an existing player account via the web console, or log in directly with the built-in admin account. To change the admin password, see change admin password.

Before you start: For Method 1, you must have joined the server at least once so your player account exists.

Method 1: Grant admin via the web console

  1. Log in to the server's Game Control Panel and navigate to your server.
  2. Click the Web Console icon.
  3. Run the following command, replacing <USERNAME> with your in-game account name:
SetAccessLevel <USERNAME> admin

Method 2: Log in as the built-in admin account

  1. Launch Project Zomboid on your local machine.
  2. On the join screen, set Account Username to admin and Account Password to ChangeMe123!.
  3. Set the server IP and port, then click Save.
  4. Join the server. You are now connected as the admin account.
