How to Upload an Existing Save to Your Project Zomboid Server
You can transfer a local multiplayer save to your server so your group picks up where you left off. The process involves zipping your save folder on your PC and uploading it to the matching directory on your server. If you need FTP access for other file operations, see connect via FTP.
Before you start: Stop your server before uploading files to avoid data corruption.
Locate and compress your save
- On your PC, navigate to your multiplayer saves folder. The default path is:
C:\Users\<UserName>\Zomboid\Saves\Multiplayer\ - You should see a
servertestfolder and aservertest_playerfolder. - Compress both folders into a single zip file.
Upload and extract the save
- Stop your server from the game panel.
- Open the File Manager in your server's control panel.
- Navigate to
.\Zomboid\Saves\Multiplayer\. - If a
servertestfolder already exists there, delete it first to avoid conflicts. - Upload your zip file to this directory.
- Right-click the uploaded zip file in the file manager and click Extract.
- Wait for the extraction to finish. Depending on save size, this may take a minute or two.
- Start your server. Your save is now active.
