How to Reinstall Your Sons of the Forest Server

Reinstalling your server deletes all server files except backups and re-downloads a fresh default installation. This is useful when the server has become corrupted or is experiencing persistent issues that configuration changes cannot resolve.

Before you start: Reinstalling will delete all custom configuration files, mods, and world data (backups are kept). Make sure you have backed up anything you want to keep before proceeding.

Steps

  1. Log in to the Game Control Panel and navigate to your server.
  2. Stop your server.
  3. Click the [...More] button to the right of the start/stop/restart buttons.

  4. Click Reinstall.
  5. Click the Reinstall button on the confirmation screen. Leave the option set to Default values unless you have a specific reason to change it.

The reinstall process can take up to 20 minutes depending on the size of the game files. The server will be offline during this time.

After reinstall

Once reinstall is complete, you will need to reconfigure your server settings. See change your server name, set a server password, and add admins to restore your previous setup.
