How to Connect to Your Sons of the Forest Server via FTP

FTP access lets you browse, upload, download, and edit your server files directly from your computer. Host Havoc recommends FileZilla as a free FTP client.

Once connected, you can manually edit configuration files or transfer world saves. For most configuration tasks you can also use the Configuration Files editor in the control panel without needing FTP.

Steps

  1. Log in to the Game Control Panel and navigate to your server.
  2. Locate the FTP Info section near the middle of the screen. Copy the FTP IP and port (for example, 167.114.172.201:8821).
  3. Open FileZilla and paste the value into the Host field.

  4. Enter your control panel username and password into the Username and Password fields.

  5. The port will automatically populate if you included it in the Host field.
  6. Click Quickconnect to connect.

SFTP note: If the panel shows SFTP Info instead of FTP Info, prefix the host with sftp://, for example sftp://167.114.172.201:8821.

Troubleshooting

  • Connection refused: Confirm the server is started. FTP may not be accessible while the server process is stopped on some configurations.
  • Wrong password: Your FTP password is the same as your Game Control Panel password. You can reset it from within the panel.
