How to Connect to Your Dark and Light Server via FTP

Using an FTP client lets you browse, upload, and download files on your Dark and Light server directly from your computer. Host Havoc recommends FileZilla, a free FTP client available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Before you start: Download and install FileZilla before following these steps.

Connect to your server

  1. Log in to the Game Control Panel and navigate to your Dark and Light server.
  2. Locate the FTP Info section near the middle of the page. Copy the FTP IP and port shown there (for example: 167.114.172.201:8821) and paste it into the Host field in FileZilla.

  3. Enter your Game Control Panel username and password into the Username and Password fields in FileZilla.

  4. The port adjusts automatically when you paste the full host:port string from the panel.
  5. Click Quickconnect to establish the connection.

Note: If the panel shows SFTP Info instead of FTP Info, prefix the host with sftp://, for example: sftp://167.114.172.201:8821.

Once connected, FileZilla displays your server's directory tree on the right side. You can drag files between your local machine (left panel) and the server (right panel).

Troubleshooting

If the connection is refused, confirm the server is running and that you copied the full host:port string including the port number. If you are unsure of your password, reset it from within the Game Control Panel. You may also need to reinstall your server if files become corrupted.
