How to Set Up Automatic Restarts for Your Dark and Light Server

Automatic restarts keep your Dark and Light server running smoothly by clearing memory and applying updates on a regular schedule. You can configure them through the Scheduled Tasks feature in the Host Havoc Game Control Panel without any manual intervention.

Create a scheduled restart

  1. Log in to the Game Control Panel and navigate to your Dark and Light server.
  2. Click the Scheduled Tasks icon in the left sidebar.
  3. Click New at the top of the section, choose Scheduled Start/Stop/Restart, then click New directly below that section.
  4. Give the task a descriptive name so you can identify it quickly.
  5. Ensure the Enabled checkbox is checked.
  6. Set the Type to Daily to run the restart at the same time every day.
  7. Set the Start date and time for when the restart should occur. This time uses the panel's timezone. To verify your timezone setting, refer to the timezone article in your game panel.
  8. Click Save.

Set a repeating restart (optional)

If you want the server to restart multiple times per day (for example, every 6 hours), enable the Repeat Task option in the Advanced Options section and configure the interval. The task will repeat within the same 24-hour period starting from your chosen time.

Troubleshooting

If the scheduled restart does not trigger, confirm the task is enabled and that the start time has not already passed for today. Check that the server is not already stopped, as a restart task requires the server to be running.
