How to Change Your Valheim Server Password

The server password for your Valheim server is configured in the Command Line Manager. You can set a new password, remove it entirely, or update an existing one at any time.

Before you start: Passwords must be at least 5 characters. If you set a password shorter than 5 characters the server will crash on startup. Leave the password field blank to run the server without a password.

Steps

  1. Log into the Game Control Panel and navigate to your server.
  2. Click the Command Line Manager button.

  3. Click Select on the "Default" command line.
  4. Locate the Server Password field and update it to your new password, or clear it to remove the password.
  5. Click Save to save the command line.
  6. Click Select on the right-hand side of the page to apply it.

Restart the server for the change to take effect. You can change the server name at the same time from the same editor. See Change Server Name for details.
