How to Enable Crossplay on Your Space Engineers Server

Updated June 10, 2026 · By Host Havoc Technical Support Team

Crossplay allows PC (Steam/EOS) and Xbox players to join the same Space Engineers server. This guide shows you how to enable it.

After enabling crossplay, players connecting from Steam can find your server by using the EOS filter in the in-game server browser.

Before you start: Switching an existing save to crossplay/EOS requires generating a new save. If you already have an active save you want to keep, back it up first.

Steps

  1. Log in to the Game Control Panel and access your Space Engineers server.
  2. Stop your server.
  3. Click the Configuration Files icon.
  4. Click the Configuration Editor tab next to SpaceEngineers-Dedicated.cfg.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the file and locate the === Crossplay/Networking === section.
  6. Check Enable Console Compatibility and set Network Type to eos.
  7. Scroll back up and click Save & Exit.
  8. Start your server.

Tip: If you are using the Torch server manager, also open the Torch.cfg config file via the Config Editor and change Enable Console Compatibility from No to Yes.

Starter worlds and crossplay compatibility

Not all starter worlds support crossplay. Worlds marked (PC) (NO CROSSPLAY) cannot be used with crossplay enabled. Use a (CROSSPLAY) world instead, for example:

WorldCrossplay
Alien Planet (PC)No
Alien System (Xbox)Yes
Empty WorldYes
Earth Planet (PC)No
Home SystemYes
Star System (PC)No
Earth Planet (Xbox)Yes

The full list of starter worlds is available in the Starting Path setting of SpaceEngineers-Dedicated.cfg.

Connecting from Steam to an Xbox server

In the in-game server browser, click the EOS filter in the name search bar and then search for your server name.
