How to Create and Restore Backups on Your Romestead Server

The Host Havoc Game Panel automatically attempts to create a backup of your Romestead server every night at 2:45 AM. Backups typically contain save data and settings files. You can also create manual backups at any time and restore from any saved backup.

For file-level transfers, you can also use an FTP client to download backup archives directly.

Create a backup

  1. Log in to the Game Control Panel and navigate to your server.
  2. Click the Create Backup icon in the server control panel.

Restore a backup

  1. Log in to the Game Control Panel and navigate to your server.
  2. Stop your server.
  3. Click the Restore Backup icon in the server control panel.
  4. Select a backup from the dropdown list.
  5. Click Run.

Download and restore a backup manually

Backups are stored in the Backups folder on your server. You can download backup .zip files using the File Manager in the control panel or via an FTP client.

To restore a downloaded backup:

  1. Use an FTP client to upload the .zip file to the main root directory of your server.
  2. Open the File Manager in the control panel.
  3. Right-click the file and select Extract. This may take a few minutes depending on the archive size.

Note: you cannot upload files directly to the Backups folder.
