How to Reset Your Minecraft World
Resetting your Minecraft server world permanently deletes the existing terrain and generates a brand-new one the next time the server starts. Before you begin, consider downloading a backup of your world so you can restore it later.
Before you start: Stop your server before deleting world folders. Deleting folders while the server is running can cause corruption.
Find your world name
- Log into the Minecraft panel.
- Open your server's overview page (the page with the Start, Stop, and Restart buttons).
- Scroll down and click Show Advanced Options.
- Note the value in the World field. The default is
world, but it may have been changed.
Delete the world folders via FTP
- Click Files on the left side, then click FTP File Access.
- Connect using an FTP client or the web-based file manager.
- Locate the folder matching your world name (for example,
world). - Delete that folder. If you also want to reset the Nether and The End dimensions, delete
world_netherandworld_the_endas well.
Start the server
- Return to the Minecraft panel.
- Click Start. The server generates a new world automatically.
Troubleshooting
The world did not reset. Confirm you deleted the correct folder. If the World field in Advanced Options shows a custom name, make sure you deleted that folder, not the default world folder.
Server crashes on start. A leftover partial folder from an incomplete delete can cause this. Connect via FTP again, remove any remaining world folder, and restart.
