How to Join Your Space Engineers Server

This guide explains how to connect to your Space Engineers dedicated server using either the in-game server browser or Direct Connect.

Before you join, make sure your server is running and your server name is set in the configuration file.

Method 1: Join via Server Browser

Set your server name

  1. Log in to your Game Control Panel and stop your server.

  2. Navigate to Configuration Files and open SpaceEngineers-Dedicated.cfg using the Config Editor.

  3. Find the Server Name field and enter your preferred server name.

  4. Click Save & Exit.

Start your server

  1. Return to the main panel dashboard and click Start.

Find and join your server

  1. Launch Space Engineers on your computer and open the server browser.
  2. Search for your server name in the search bar.

  3. Select your server from the list and click Join World.

  4. If you set a server password, enter it in the popup and click Connect.

Method 2: Join via Direct Connect

  1. Log in to your Game Control Panel.
  2. Copy the Connection Info from your server's panel dashboard.

  3. Launch Space Engineers and click Join Game.

  4. Click Direct Connect.

  5. Paste the connection info you copied and click Connect.

  6. If prompted, enter your server password and click Connect.

Tip: For crossplay servers, make sure to enable the EOS filter in the server browser to find servers that support Xbox and PC connections. See Enable Crossplay.

Troubleshooting

  • Server not appearing in browser: Verify the server is running and allow a minute or two for it to appear in the list.
  • Mod mismatch errors: Make sure all mods required by the server are downloaded and up-to-date on your client.
  • Password prompt unexpected: Check if a server password is set in SpaceEngineers-Dedicated.cfg.
