Install and Update uMod/Oxide on Your Rust Server
uMod (formerly Oxide) is the modding framework that enables plugin support on your Rust server. Host Havoc provides a one-click installer so you can get started without any manual file transfers. Once installed, uMod updates automatically whenever you update the server. See Install Plugins to add plugins after completing this guide.
Log in to the game panel
Log into the Game Control Panel and navigate to your Rust server.
Open Non-Workshop Mods
Click the Non-Workshop Mods icon in your server's control panel.
Install uMod/Oxide
Locate uMod/Oxide in the list and click Install beside it. The installer handles the download and setup automatically.
Start your server
Start your server. uMod will initialise on the first launch and generate its required folder structure (including oxide/plugins/).
Note: uMod updates are applied automatically the next time you run a server update. You do not need to reinstall it for routine updates.
Updating uMod manually
If you need to force a manual update:
- Return to Non-Workshop Mods.
- Click Uninstall beside uMod/Oxide.
- Click Install again to pull the latest version.
- Start your server.
