How to Schedule Automatic Restarts for Your Insurgency: Sandstorm Server

Updated 10 June 2026 · By Host Havoc Technical Support Team

Scheduled restarts keep your Insurgency: Sandstorm server running smoothly by clearing memory and applying any pending updates at a time you choose. The Host Havoc game panel includes a built-in Scheduled Tasks tool for this.

If your server is in the wrong time zone, adjust your panel timezone before setting a schedule. Refer to the game panel documentation for time zone settings.

Create a scheduled restart

  1. Log in to the Game Control Panel and navigate to your server.
  2. Click the Scheduled Tasks icon in the left-hand menu.
  3. Click New at the top of the section.
  4. Choose Scheduled Start/Stop/Restart from the task type options, then click New in that section.
  5. Give the task a descriptive name so you can identify it later.
  6. Check the Enabled box.
  7. Set the Type to Daily to restart at the same time each day.
  8. Set the Start Date and Time for when the restart should occur. This time repeats daily.
  9. Click Save.

Set a repeating interval (optional)

If you want the server to restart every few hours rather than once per day:

  1. In the task editor, check the Repeat Task checkbox.
  2. Set the repeat interval (for example, every 6 hours within a 24-hour period).

  3. Click Save.

Advanced options

Expand the Advanced Options section when creating or editing a task to configure:

  • Action type: restart, start, or stop.
  • Wait until empty: delays the restart until no players are connected.

Troubleshooting

  • Task not triggering: Confirm the Enabled checkbox is checked and the start time has not already passed for today.
  • Restart happening at the wrong time: Verify your panel time zone matches your local time zone.
