How to Fix an ARK Server Stuck at 0% CPU

Published 8 June 2026 · By Host Havoc Technical Support Team

A server hanging at 0% CPU for an extended time means ARK: Survival Evolved is failing to start internally, usually because of a mod or a corrupt save. Work through these steps in order, checking after each to see if the server recovers.

Steps to recover

  1. Update every mod. Out-of-date mods are the most common cause after a game patch.
  2. Roll back your saved data in case it recently corrupted.
  3. Disable all mods and create a fresh save by renaming the ShooterGame/Saved/SavedArks folder. The server generates a new one on restart.
  4. If that fixes it, rename the folder back to recover the original save once the cause is sorted.

Note: A clean save with no mods is the fastest way to confirm whether a mod or the save is at fault. See reset your server for the full save-reset steps, and server crashing if it hangs only under load.

Still stuck

If none of this helps, open a support ticket and say you have already updated mods, rolled back, and tried a fresh save. That lets the technician skip ahead and resolve it faster.
