How to Connect to Your Windrose Server via FTP

Using an FTP client gives you direct access to your Windrose server's files for uploading configs, downloading backups, and making bulk changes. This guide uses FileZilla, which you can download from filezilla-project.org.

Once connected, you can use FTP to retrieve backup archives as described in the manage backups guide.

Configure FileZilla

  1. Log in to the Game Control Panel and navigate to your server.
  2. Locate the FTP Info section near the middle of the screen. Copy the FTP IP and port (for example, 167.114.172.201:8821) and paste it into the Host field in FileZilla.

  3. Enter your control panel username and password into the Username and Password fields in FileZilla. You can change your password from within the panel.

  4. The Port field fills in automatically when you paste the full host:port value from the control panel.
  5. Click Quickconnect to connect.

Before you start: If the panel shows SFTP Info instead of FTP Info, prefix the address with sftp:// in FileZilla. For example: sftp://167.114.172.201:8821.

Troubleshooting

If the connection is refused, confirm the server is running and that you copied the full host and port value. If you changed your panel password, update it in FileZilla as well. You cannot upload files directly to the Backups folder; use the in-panel Restore Backup option instead.
