How to Restore Character Saves from a Backup
If a player's character data is lost or corrupted, you can restore it from a server backup. This replaces only the affected player files without resetting the world.
You will need FTP access to upload files. See FTP client setup if you have not configured it yet.
Steps
- Log in to the Game Control Panel and navigate to your Palworld server.
- Stop your server if it is running.
- Click the File Manager icon.
- Open the Backups folder.
- Right-click the backup you want to restore from and download it to your PC.
- On your PC, extract the
.zipfile. - Inside the extracted archive, navigate to
/Pal/Saved/SavedGames/0/SaveGame/Players/and locate the player save files you need to restore. - In the File Manager, navigate to
/Pal/Saved/SavedGames/0/SaveGame/Players/on the server. - Delete the existing player save files you are replacing.
- Upload the backup player save files to that folder using your FTP client.
- Start your server.
Troubleshooting
- Cannot find the player file: Player save files are named by Steam64 ID. Match the file name to the player's Steam64 ID to identify the correct file.
- Backup not listed: Backups may be retained for a limited time. Contact support if you cannot find the backup you need.
