How to Become Admin on Your DayZ Server

DayZ uses a password-based admin system. You set the admin password in your server config file and then authenticate in-game with a chat command. You can also ban or kick players once you are logged in as admin.

Part 1: Set the admin password

Step 1: Log into the Game Control Panel and navigate to your DayZ service.

Step 2: Stop your server if it is running.

Step 3: Click Configuration Files, then click Text Editor next to serverDZ_By_HostHavoc.cfg.

Step 4: Locate the following line:

passwordAdmin = "ChangeMe123!"; // Password to become server admin

Step 5: Replace ChangeMe123! with a strong password of your choice.

Step 6: Click Save, then start your server.

Part 2: Log in as admin in-game

Step 1: Join your server.

Step 2: Open the in-game chat by pressing Enter.

Step 3: Type #login YourAdminPassword and press Enter.

You will receive a confirmation message when admin access is granted.
