How to Reinstall Your Valheim Server

Reinstalling your Valheim server deletes all server files except backups, then redownloads the default setup. Use this to resolve persistent issues or start fresh.

Before you start: Reinstalling deletes all server files except backups. World saves in worlds_local are not part of the standard backup set. Upload any saves you want to keep before proceeding. See Upload World for how to recover them afterward.

Steps

  1. Log into the Game Control Panel and navigate to your server.
  2. Stop the server.
  3. Click the ...More button to the right of the start/stop/restart buttons.

  4. Click Reinstall.
  5. Click the Reinstall button to confirm. Leave the Default values option selected.

The process may take up to 20 minutes depending on the size of the game files. Once complete, the server will be ready to start with a fresh default configuration.
