How to Upload a World Save to Your Valheim Server
You can run an existing singleplayer world on your Valheim server by uploading its save files.
Locate your local world files
On Windows, since Valheim 1.0, words are typically stored in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<AccountID>\892970\remote\
However, if you still have an old world, you may also find it here:
C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\worlds_local\<WorldName>\
The world's folder should contain .chunks , .db2 and .fwl2 files, as well as several cache files
Upload the save files
- Stop your server in the Game Control Panel.
- Using the File Manager, delete the files inside the
cachefolder before uploading. - Use the File Manager or an FTP client to navigate to the
worlds_localfolder on the server. If the folder does not exist, create it. - Upload your world's folder into the
worlds_localfolder on the server. - In the control panel, click the Command Line Manager button.
- Click Select on the "Default" command line.
- Set the World Name field to match the name of your uploaded world folder. For example, if the folder was called
MyWorld123, set the world name toMyWorld123. - Save and select the command line, then start the server.
The server will load your uploaded world on the next start. To roll back to a previous save later, see Restore Backup.
