How to Import a Save Game to Your V Rising Server

Updated 10 June 2026 · By Host Havoc Technical Support Team

Transfer a save from a local game or another server to your Host Havoc V Rising server by uploading it through the file manager and updating the server config.

Locate your save files

Save files are stored in different folders depending on the server type.

Dedicated server saves:

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRisingServer\Saves\v4\

Local (single-player) saves:

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRising\Saves\v4\

Upload the save

  1. Compress the save folder you want to import into a .zip file.
  2. Log into the Game Control Panel and navigate to your server.
  3. Stop the server.
  4. Open the File Manager and navigate to ./save-data/Saves/v4/.
  5. Upload the .zip file to that folder.
  6. Right-click the uploaded .zip in the file manager and click Extract to unpack the files.

Set the active save

  1. In the panel, open Configuration Files and open ServerHostSettings.json in the config editor.
  2. Set the SaveName option to the name of the save folder you just uploaded.
  3. Click Save and Exit.
  4. Start the server.

The server will load your imported save on the next startup.

Troubleshooting

Save not loading - Confirm the SaveName value exactly matches the folder name inside ./save-data/Saves/v4/, including capitalisation.

File manager upload fails for large saves - Use an FTP client to upload the .zip instead.
