How to Set Up Automatic Restarts for Your Project Zomboid Server
Scheduled restarts keep your server healthy and free up memory over time. You can set a restart to run once per day or at repeating intervals using the Scheduled Tasks feature in your control panel. For other configuration changes, see change admin password or sandbox settings.
Create a scheduled restart
- Log in to the Game Control Panel and navigate to your server.
- Click the Scheduled Tasks icon on the left-hand side.
- Click New at the top, choose Scheduled Start/Stop/Restart, then click New directly below that section.
- Give the task a descriptive name and make sure the Enabled checkbox is checked.
- Set the type to Daily to restart at the same time each day.
- Set the start date and time. This is the time the task runs every day. To match your time zone, check the time zone guide.
- Click Save.
Set up a repeating restart
To restart every few hours (for example, every 6 hours), open the Advance Options section after step 6:
- Check Repeat Task.
- Set the repeat interval (for example, every 6 hours).
- Additional options such as waiting until the server is empty before restarting are also available under Advance Options.
Below is an example of a task configured to repeat every 6 hours across a 24-hour period:
Click Save when done.
