How to Edit Your Palworld Server Settings

Updated 10 June 2026 · By Host Havoc Technical Support Team

You can change your server name, password, and any other setting by editing PalWorldSettings.ini through the game panel. For a full list of available parameters, see the server settings reference.

Before you start: Stop your server before making changes. The server must be offline for edits to take effect.

Edit settings

  1. Log in to the Game Control Panel and navigate to your Palworld server.
  2. Stop your server if it is running.
  3. Click Configuration Files.
  4. Click the Config Editor icon for PalWorldSettings.ini.
  5. Locate and edit the setting you want to change. Common settings:
    • Server Name: sets the name shown in the server browser.
    • Server Password: sets the password required to join. See the note below.
    • Admin/RCon Password: required to use admin commands.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Start your server.

Password note

Passwords on Palworld have a known limitation. Enabling a server password means players can only join by finding the server in the community server listing. Connecting via direct connect or the recent servers option will time out or show an empty password error. Joining via the community listing works correctly with the password prompt.

Troubleshooting

  • Changes not applied: Confirm the server was stopped before editing and fully restarted after saving.
  • Config Editor not loading: Try refreshing the game panel page and opening Configuration Files again.
