How to Upload an Existing World

Published 9 June 2026 · By Host Havoc Technical Support Team

Uploading an existing world replaces your server's current terrain with one you have on your computer. Before uploading, download a copy of the current world if you want to keep it.

Before you start: Stop the server before uploading. Running a file transfer while the server is active can corrupt world data.

Upload the world folder

  1. Log into the Minecraft panel and click Stop.
  2. Click Files on the left side, then click FTP File Access.
  3. Connect using your FTP client.
  4. If your uploaded world folder is named world and a world folder already exists on the server, delete the existing one first to avoid conflicts. See reset your world for deletion steps.
  5. Upload your world folder to the server's root directory.

Set the world name in Multicraft

  1. Return to the Minecraft panel overview page.
  2. Click Show Advanced Options at the bottom.
  3. In the World field, enter the exact name of the folder you uploaded.
  4. Click Save.

Start the server

  1. Click Start. The server loads the uploaded world.

Troubleshooting

World does not load. Confirm the World field in Advanced Options matches the uploaded folder name exactly, including capitalisation.

Modded content missing. World files that contain blocks or entities from mods will not work correctly if the server is not running the same mods. Install the required mods before starting the server with the uploaded world.
