Server Running Wrong Version or Connecting to Wrong Server

Published 9 June 2026 · By Host Havoc Technical Support Team

If you try to join your Minecraft server and it appears to be running the wrong version, shows an unexpected world, or looks like someone else's server entirely, the most common cause is connecting with only the IP address rather than the full IP and port.

Connect using IP and port together

You must join using your server's full address in the format <IP>:<PORT>, for example:

192.101.54.22:25565

Using only the IP address without the port may route you to a different server sharing the same IP.

For the full process of joining your server, see the join server guide.

Troubleshooting

Server still shows the wrong version. Confirm the JAR file selected in Multicraft matches the Minecraft client version you are using. You can change the JAR file from the server overview in the Minecraft panel.

World looks different than expected. If the world was recently reset or a new seed applied, the terrain will differ. See reset world and change level seed for context.
