How to Change the Map on Your Conan Exiles Server

Updated 10 June 2026 · By Host Havoc Technical Support Team

Your Conan Exiles server can run the default Exiled Lands map, the Isle of Siptah DLC map, or a Steam Workshop custom map such as Savage Wilds. Switching maps requires editing Engine.ini in the game panel.

Warning: Switching maps starts a fresh world on the new map. Your current map's save is preserved in the Saved folder and can be restored later. See rollback and backups for restore steps.

Switching to an Official Map (Exiled Lands or Isle of Siptah)

  1. Log into the Game Control Panel and navigate to your server.
  2. Stop the server.
  3. Click Configuration Files and open Engine.ini in the Config Editor.
  4. Find the Map Selection section and choose your desired map from the dropdown.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Start the server.

Note for Isle of Siptah: If you have never run Isle of Siptah on this server before, make sure your service has been updated before switching. Isle of Siptah is a paid DLC -- all players who want to join must own it.

Switching to Savage Wilds (Steam Workshop Custom Map)

Savage Wilds is a free Steam Workshop map mod. Follow these steps in order:

  1. Stop the server.
  2. Install the Savage Wilds mod via the Steam Workshop section in the game panel.
  3. Open the File Manager, navigate to ConanSandbox/Mods/, and edit modlist.txt to place Savage Wilds at the top (position 1).
  4. Open Engine.ini in the Config Editor, find the Map Selection section, and set the map to Savage Wilds.
  5. Save and start the server.

Map Save Files

Each map uses its own save file:

MapSave file
Exiled Landsgame.db
Isle of Siptahdlc_siptah.db
Savage Wildssavagewilds_game.db

These files are located in ConanSandbox/Saved/. To restore a previous session on any map, follow the rollback guide.
