Why Is My Arma 3 Server Running Out of Memory?

Published 9 June 2026 · By Host Havoc Technical Support Team

If your Arma 3 server is crashing or behaving erratically due to memory exhaustion, the cause is almost always the x86 server executable. The x86 build cannot address more than 4 GB of RAM regardless of how much physical memory is available. Switching to the x64 executable removes that cap.

After switching, you may also want to review your command line settings to make sure the correct command line is active.

Note: Some older mods are not compatible with the x64 executable and may prevent the server from loading. Test after switching and revert if mods stop working.

Steps

  1. Log in to the Game Control Panel and navigate to your Arma 3 server.
  2. Locate the Select x86 or x64 Server EXE section in the game panel.
  3. Select the x64 option.
  4. Click Run to apply the change.
  5. Navigate to the Command Line Manager, open your active command line, and click Select again to reactivate it.
  6. Start your server and confirm it loads correctly.

If the problem persists after switching to x64, submit a support ticket and our team will investigate further.
