How to Change Your 7 Days to Die Server Name

Your 7 Days to Die server name is what players see in the in-game server browser. You can update it any time through the game panel by editing serverconfigmain.xml. If you also want to restrict who can join, see our guide on setting a server password at the same time.

Before you start: Stop your server before editing configuration files. Changes made while the server is running may not take effect.

Steps

  1. Log into your Game Control Panel.
  2. Stop your service if it is running.
  3. Click Configuration Files in the left-hand menu.
  4. Open serverconfigmain.xml using either the Text Editor or Config Editor.
  5. Locate the Server Name field and enter your new server name.
  6. Click Save and Exit.

  7. Start your service. The new name appears in the server browser once the server is fully online.
