How to reset or wipe your 7 Days to Die server world
This article will cover the steps needed to fully reset (wipe) the world on your 7 Days to Die server.
Important: This is destructive. All builds, dropped items, player positions, and world modifications will be lost. Player profiles (skills, level, inventory) are stored separately and can optionally be preserved or wiped along with the world.
Step 1: Log into the Game Control Panel and navigate to your 7 Days to Die service.
Step 2: Stop your server.
Method A: Quick reset by renaming the save
Step 3a: Click on Configuration Files, open serverconfigfull.xml with Config Editor.
Step 4a: Change the value of Game Name to a new value (e.g., from MyServer to MyServer2).
Step 5a: Save and start the service. A fresh world is generated using the existing Game World/World Generation Seed settings.
The old save remains on disk and can be restored later by changing Game Name back.
Method B: Full deletion
Step 3b: Click on File Manager and navigate to userdata/Saves/<Game World>/<Game Name>/.
Step 4b: Delete the entire <Game Name> folder. This wipes the world AND player profile files for that save.
Step 5b: Start the service. A new save is generated with the same name.
To preserve player profiles but wipe the world:
After Step 3b, before deleting, download the Player/ subfolder via File Manager. After the world regenerates, re-upload the Player/ folder back into the new save. Players retain their skill points, levels, and inventories but start in a fresh world.
For random-gen worlds, also consider changing World Generation Seed in serverconfigfull.xml to generate a completely different map layout instead of the same map again.
