About Conan Exiles
Conan Exiles drops up to 70 survivors into Robert E. Howard's Hyborian world to build, raid, and rule. With Conan Exiles Enhanced (the May 2026 UE5 upgrade), the Exiled Lands and Isle of Siptah maps are now one continuous world, with players teleporting between regions on a single server. Host Havoc runs the dedicated server software on NVMe SSD hardware with DDoS protection, instant setup, and 24/7 expert support.
Switch UE5 Enhanced or UE4 Legacy
Funcom keeps both builds active. Enhanced (UE5) is the default for Steam owners and brings Lumen lighting, Nanite geometry, and the merged-map travel system. Legacy (UE4) stays available for players on Epic and Microsoft Store, and for anyone running mod stacks that haven't been ported to UE5 yet. Toggle between the two builds from your Host Havoc control panel, useful while you wait for your favorite mod authors to publish UE5-compatible versions.
Workshop mods, DLC & server tools
Steam Workshop mod installs are one-click from the control panel on both builds. All Conan Exiles DLC (Isle of Siptah, Age of Sorcery chapters, paid character DLC) works on Host Havoc servers with no extra configuration. FTP access, scheduled restarts, automated backups, and full ServerSettings.ini control are included. Server slots scale from 30 to 70 players, the engine cap set by Funcom.

Without Host Havoc
The manual way: self-hosting
Funcom ships the official Conan Exiles Dedicated Server tool for Windows. It is RAM-heavy and runs headless with no GPU: budget about 4 cores and 8 to 16 GB of RAM on a box that stays on 24/7. There is no native Linux build, so on Linux you run the Windows server under Wine.
- On Linux, install Wine and a virtual display (xvfb) so the Windows server can run headless.
- Download the dedicated server with SteamCMD using App ID 443030:
steamcmd +login anonymous +app_update 443030 validate +quit - In
ConanSandbox/Saved/Config/WindowsServer, editEngine.ini(ServerName,ServerPasswordunder[OnlineSubsystem], and the map path for Exiled Lands or Isle of Siptah),ServerSettings.ini(AdminPassword), andGame.ini(MaxPlayers). Edit them while the server is stopped, or it will overwrite your changes. - Forward 7777/UDP (game) and 27015/UDP (query); the pinger uses 7778/UDP automatically.
- Launch
ConanSandboxServer.exeand keep it running: a Windows service, or screen/tmux on Linux.
After that it is on you: patch the server on every update, run your own world backups, restart it after crashes, and absorb DDoS attacks yourself.
