How to Reinstall Your Vintage Story Server

Reinstalling your Vintage Story server wipes all server files (except saved backups) and redownloads a fresh default installation. Use this when your server files are corrupted or you want a clean start.

Before you start: Reinstalling deletes all server files except backups. If you want to keep your world, back it up or download it via FTP before proceeding.

Reinstall the server

  1. Log into the Game Control Panel and navigate to your server.
  2. Stop your server using the stop button.
  3. Click the ...More button to the right of the start/stop/restart buttons.

  4. Click Reinstall.
  5. Click the Reinstall button to confirm. Leave the option set to Default values.

The reinstall process may take up to 20 minutes depending on the size of the game files. Once complete, start your server normally.

Troubleshooting

  • If the server does not start after reinstalling, wait a few minutes and try again as files may still be downloading.
  • If you need to restore a specific world after reinstalling, use FTP to upload your .vcdbs save file to the Saves folder.
