How to Set Up Automatic Restarts for Your Sons of the Forest Server
Automatic restarts help keep your server stable by clearing memory and applying any pending updates on a schedule. You configure them using the Scheduled Tasks feature in the Game Control Panel.
Before scheduling restarts, make sure your server name is set so players can find it again after each restart. See change your server name.
Steps
- Log in to the Game Control Panel and navigate to your server.
- Click the Scheduled Tasks icon in the left-hand menu.
- Click New at the top of the section and choose Scheduled Start/Stop/Restart, then click New again in that section.
- Give the task a descriptive name so you can identify it later, and ensure the Enabled checkbox is checked.
- Set the Type to Daily to restart at the same time each day.
- Set the Start date and time for when the restart should occur. This time repeats every day.
- Click Save.
Repeat every N hours
To restart on a recurring interval (for example, every 6 hours), check the Repeat Task option and set the interval. The task will fire multiple times within the 24-hour period.
Notes
- The scheduled time is based on the panel's time zone. If you need to align it with your local time, check the panel's time zone setting.
- Advanced options such as waiting until the server is empty before restarting are available in the Advanced Options section of the task.
