Schedule an Automatic Wipe on Rust Wipe Day

Rust's forced wipes occur on the first Thursday of each month when Facepunch pushes a mandatory update. You can automate the wipe process on your server using the Host Havoc scheduled task system so it runs on the correct day without manual intervention. Warning: The wipe is not reversible unless you have your own backups.

Note: This scheduled task checks whether today is the first Thursday of the month each time it runs. Set it to run daily so it can check on the correct day.

Steps

  1. Log into the Game Control Panel.
  2. Click Scheduled Tasks on the left-hand side.
  3. Click New, choose Wipe on Rust Wipe Day, and click New at the bottom.
  4. Set a name such as "Wipe on Rust Wipe Day" for easy identification.
  5. Under Type, choose Daily.
  6. Adjust the start time if needed.
  7. Do not select Repeat Task.
  8. Save the task.

The task will run daily but only execute the wipe on the first Thursday of each month.
