Oxide/uMod Not Loading on Your Rust Server

Published June 9, 2026 · By Host Havoc Technical Support Team

If uMod/Oxide is not loading after server start, the most common causes are a corrupted install or mismatched server files. Follow these steps to resolve the issue. If you need to install uMod from scratch, see Install uMod/Oxide.

Reinstall uMod/Oxide

  1. Log into the Game Control Panel.
  2. Click Non-Workshop Mods.
  3. Uninstall uMod/Oxide, then reinstall it using the same button.
  4. Start the server and check whether Oxide loads.

Force-validate server files

If reinstalling Oxide alone does not fix the issue, validate the underlying server files:

  1. Open the File Manager in your control panel.
  2. Select and delete the steamapps folder.
  3. Run the Steam Update script from the control panel.
  4. The files will validate and re-download any corrupted or missing data.
  5. Start your server and confirm Oxide loads.
