How to Edit Mod Configuration Files on Your DayZ Server

Published June 9, 2026 · By Host Havoc Technical Support Team

Most mods generate their own configuration files the first time your server runs with them active. You can then edit those files through the File Manager or FTP to customize mod behavior.

Before editing, make sure the mods are installed and activated and the server has run at least once to generate the config files.

Steps

Step 1: Log into the Game Control Panel and navigate to your DayZ service.

Step 2: Install your mods and start the server. Allow it to fully start, then stop it -- this generates the mod profile and config folders.

Step 3: Click the File Manager icon and open the HostHavocDayZServer folder (the server profile directory).

Step 4: Browse the mod sub-folders to find the configuration file you want to edit.

Step 5: Right-click the file and select Edit, make your changes, then save.

Note: Not all mods create configuration files. If a folder is empty or missing the file you expect, check the mod's documentation for the correct location or file name.

Tip: You can also edit mod config files via FTP if that is your preferred workflow.
