About Space Engineers 2: Keen's block-building sandbox sequel, in Early Access

Space Engineers 2 is the sequel to Keen Software House's engineering sandbox, built on the new VRAGE3 engine. You design ships, stations and rovers block by block on a single 25 cm grid, then fly, mine and fight with them on planets and in open space. The game entered Steam Early Access on January 27, 2025, starting with creative mode, and planets and survival arrived in December 2025. Once multiplayer lands, a dedicated server is what lets a crew share one persistent world that keeps running after the host logs off.

Multiplayer and dedicated server status

Today Space Engineers 2 is single-player only. Keen's official roadmap targets 4-player cooperative multiplayer for early 2027, with full multiplayer to follow. Keen has not released dedicated server software or published server requirements yet, so no host can run a Space Engineers 2 server right now. Host Havoc plans to offer servers once those tools ship. If your group wants to play together today, Space Engineers servers are available now.

Steam Workshop and modding

Blueprints and mods are shared through Steam Workshop, and Keen added official modding tools in June 2025. Keen has not yet said how mods will load on dedicated servers.
