How to Set the Clan Size Limit on Your Conan Exiles Server

Published 9 June 2026 · By Host Havoc Technical Support Team

Controlling clan size lets you shape the competitive balance of your server. PvP servers typically use small clan caps to keep battles fair, while cooperative PvE servers allow large clans.

Pair clan size limits with thrall and pet limits for compound balance tuning.

Steps

  1. Log into the Game Control Panel and navigate to your Conan Exiles service.
  2. Stop the server.
  3. Click Configuration Files, then open ServerSettings.ini in the Text Editor. Under [ServerSettings], set:
    MaxClanSize=10

  4. Click Save and start the server.

Common Values

ValueUse case
1Solo play -- clans disabled
4-5Small competitive PvP
10Mid-size server default
20+Large cooperative PvE
0Unlimited (vanilla default)

Notes

  • Existing clans that exceed the new limit are not automatically broken up. No new members can join until the clan drops below the cap.
  • Common PvP preset: clan size 4, alliances disabled.
  • Common PvE preset: clan size 20-50, alliances enabled.
