Published 9 June 2026 · By Host Havoc Technical Support Team

Your 7 Days to Die server can run different Steam branches, including stable and experimental builds. This lets you opt in to the latest experimental version or pin the server to a specific release.

Steps to Switch Branch

  1. Log in to your Game Control Panel.
  2. Stop the server.
  3. Click the Switch Branch icon on the left side of the panel.
Switch Branch icon in the Host Havoc game panel
  4. Select the branch you want to run from the dropdown (for example, Latest Experimental).
  5. Click Run.
  6. Open the Command Line Manager and select the appropriate command line for your version (for example, 1.0).
  7. Start the server.

Note: If the branch does not change after completing the steps above, open the File Manager, delete the steamapps folder, and repeat the steps.

Running the Latest Experimental Version

To run the latest experimental build, select Latest Experimental in step 4 above.

Note: With the 1.0 experimental release, use the serverconfigfull configuration file to change settings. All saves and randomly generated worlds are now stored in the userdata folder.

Switching Back to Stable

Repeat the steps above and select the stable branch from the dropdown. Clear the steamapps folder if the server does not switch cleanly.
