Arma 4 Release Date: Everything We Know (2027 ETA)

Arma 4 does not have a confirmed release date yet. Bohemia Interactive's official target is still 2027, and the official site at arma4.com shows "ETA 2027." There is no trailer, beta, pre-order or platform list so far. Bohemia has given new signals in 2026, though: single-player and the scenario editor are planned to return, and the setting points to the Cold War.

• August 25, 2026: single-player and the editor are coming back. At a Gamescom Dev talk, Bohemia executive producer Natalia Agafonova explained that Arma Reforger deliberately focused on multiplayer and modding, with the editor and single-player "left for the next big instalment, Arma 4." Her message to fans: "we do remember our full DNA, and Arma 4 is coming." (Insider Gaming)
• August 2026: a Cold War hint on Bohemia's own site. Bohemia's new corporate website briefly described Arma 4 as "an authentic Cold War sandbox that combines large-scale combat with real-time mission control." • August 13, 2026: Arma Reforger Update 1.8. Reforger, the testbed for Arma 4's technology, added AI vision blocking through grass, faster specialist roles and a Microsoft Store release with Xbox Play Anywhere. (Arma Platform)

When Will Arma 4 Come Out?

Bohemia's only official answer is 2027. The studio announced that window during its 25th Anniversary Concert in October 2024, and the official Arma 4 site still shows "ETA 2027." (Gematsu)

An ETA is a target, not a release date. Bohemia has not named a month or quarter, and large simulation projects often slip. Arma 4 was first confirmed back in May 2022, alongside the launch of Arma Reforger, so the game will have been in public development for around five years by 2027.

What We Know So Far

• Release window: ETA 2027.
• Engine: Enfusion, the same engine that powers Arma Reforger. It replaces the Real Virtuality engine used by Arma 3 and earlier games.
• Reforger as the foundation: Arma Reforger is the live testbed for the networking, server, modding and gameplay systems that Arma 4 will build on.
• Single-player and editor: Planned for Arma 4, per Bohemia's executive producer in August 2026.

Strongly suggested, not formally announced

• Cold War setting: Bohemia's own site briefly called Arma 4 a "Cold War sandbox" in August 2026. That would match Arma Reforger, which is set on the island of Everon in 1989, and the T-72 tank glimpsed in the 2024 teaser.

Still unknown

• Platforms: No official word on PC only versus a console launch. Arma Reforger is on PC, Xbox and PlayStation 5, which makes a multi-platform release plausible, but nothing is confirmed.
• Map and terrain: No official terrain has been shown. Reports of a very large map (around 900 km²) trace back to interviews and remain unconfirmed.
• Modding tools: Modding is expected given the series' history and Reforger's Workshop, but Bohemia has not detailed Arma 4's tools.
• Early access: Not announced.

Is There an Arma 4 Trailer?

Not a gameplay trailer. Bohemia has shown teaser material, including the 2024 anniversary reveal, but there is no official gameplay footage or story trailer as of October 2026. Anything labeled "Arma 4 gameplay" on video sites is either Arma Reforger or fan-made.

The Enfusion Engine

Enfusion is Bohemia's next-generation engine and the biggest technical change in the series in over a decade. Compared with Real Virtuality, it is built for:

• Better performance on modern hardware, especially in large multiplayer battles
• Improved visuals, lighting and animation
• More reliable networking and server infrastructure
• Modern modding tools with an integrated Workshop

For server owners, Enfusion matters most for performance at scale. Reforger has already shown how the engine handles high player counts and heavy scenarios, and those lessons carry into Arma 4.

How Arma Reforger Leads Into Arma 4

Arma Reforger is not a sequel to Arma 3, and it is not an Arma 4 demo. It is a full, standalone game that also works as Bohemia's live test environment for Enfusion.

• May 2022: Released in early access on PC and Xbox, alongside the Arma 4 confirmation.
• November 2023: Version 1.0 left early access.
• December 2024: Launched on PlayStation 5.
• 2026: Major updates continued, including Update 1.8 in August.

Reforger is set during a fictional 1989 Cold War conflict on the island of Everon, with US and Soviet forces fighting for control. Bohemia has used it to refine networking, server tools, console crossplay and the modding Workshop. Many of those systems are expected to become core parts of Arma 4.

What Gameplay to Expect

Bohemia has not detailed Arma 4's mechanics, but the series has a clear identity, and the studio has said it remembers its "full DNA." Based on the series and Reforger, expect:

• Large open terrains built for combined arms warfare, with infantry, armor, helicopters and jets on the same battlefield
• Realistic, slower-paced combat where coordination, planning and logistics matter more than reflexes
• A single-player campaign and scenario editor, which Reforger left out
• Large-scale multiplayer, from small co-op squads to full community operations

Modding in Arma 4

Modding is a core part of the Arma identity. DayZ itself started life as an Arma 2 mod, and Arma 3's community has produced everything from total conversions to persistent roleplay worlds.

Yes. Bohemia has not announced an end of support, and Arma 3 received Game Update 2.22 in August 2026.
