How to Change Mod Load Order on Your Conan Exiles Server

The load order controls which mods are loaded and in what order. Mods are loaded from top to bottom -- the first entry loads first. Load order matters most when mods modify the same game systems or when a map mod (like Savage Wilds) must load before gameplay mods. The order is stored in modlist.txt.

See Install Mods if you have not yet added mods to your server.

  1. Log into the Game Control Panel and navigate to your server.
  2. Click the HH Mod Manager icon.
  3. Open the Load order tab.
  4. Drag the mods into the order you want under Loaded (modlist.txt). On a phone, use the ▲ ▼ arrows. Mods under Installed but not loaded are installed but not used; drag them up to load them.
  5. Click Save load order.
  6. Restart the server. Conan Exiles only reads the load order when it starts, so the page shows a Restart needed notice until then.

You don't need to stop the server before saving. If players' games download the server's mods automatically (on by default), the server's mod list follows the new order at the next start.

Method 2 - Edit modlist.txt

  1. Stop the server.
  2. Click Configuration Files and open modlist.txt in the Text Editor. You can also use the File Manager: go to ConanSandbox/Mods/, right-click modlist.txt and choose Edit.
  3. Re-arrange the mod entries so they appear in your preferred order (one mod per line, top = loads first).
  4. Click Save and Exit.
  5. Start the server.

Notes

  • Map mods such as Savage Wilds should be placed at the top of the load order (position 1).
  • Gameplay mods that extend or patch each other should be ordered with the dependency before the dependent mod.
  • If the server fails to start after reordering, try reverting to the previous order and testing mods one at a time.
