Setting your Rust server as a whitelist only server (Private Server Option)

  • Whitelist, Rust
  • 73

Make sure you have uMod and Oxide setup before continuing. You can do that by following this guide.

If you're wanting to make your server private, please follow the steps provided below:
You will need to enable a whitelist by using an Oxide plugin as Rust does not have a password option available.

1.) Download the Whitelist plugin by Wulf, https://umod.org/plugins/whitelist

2.) Upload the plugin to your /oxide/plugins/ directory.

3.) Restart your server. Once the server is started, the plugin should be enabled.

4.) To allow people to connect find the person's Steam ID: You can find their steam ID From this website: https://steamid.io/

5.) When in-game, press F1 and use the following syntax: oxide.grant user 00000000000 whitelist.allow (Replace "00000000000" with the Steam ID you got in the previous step)

Congratulations you've set up the server whitelist!  Any player who attempts to join without a whitelist will now be blocked from the server.
Note: Server admins do not require permission to join
