About BeamMP: online multiplayer for BeamNG.drive
BeamNG.drive is a driving simulator built on soft-body physics, so every dent, rollover, and head-on crash is calculated as it happens. BeamMP is the free, open-source mod that adds online multiplayer, letting you cruise, race, run convoys, or stage demolition derbies with friends on the same map. A dedicated server keeps that map online when the host's PC is off, and nobody has to share a home IP address to play.
Mods, custom maps, and Lua plugins
BeamMP servers push client mods to every player automatically on join, which makes modded vehicle packs and custom maps practical for a whole group. For server-side logic, BeamMP runs Lua plugins from the Resources/Server folder, which communities use for game modes, chat commands, and rules. The MaxCars setting limits how many vehicles each player can spawn, a simple way to keep the vehicle count and the server's upload bandwidth under control.

How to Set Up a BeamMP Dedicated Server
With Host Havoc
The easy way: with Host Havoc
- Pick a plan and region. 1 to 16 slots, in the datacenter closest to your group.
- Deploy in minutes. Your server launches on the latest BeamMP build, ready to join.
- Manage from the panel. Start, stop, and configure your server in a few clicks, and upload mod zips over FTP.
DDoS protection, automated backups, and 24/7 support are included.
Without Host Havoc
The manual way: self-hosting
BeamMP's server is a free, open-source program from the BeamMP team (it is not on Steam, so no SteamCMD). It runs natively on Windows or Linux and is light on hardware: BeamMP lists a CPU over 1 GHz (multicore preferred) and 50 MiB of RAM as the minimum. The real bottleneck is upload bandwidth, so plan for 5 to 10 Mb/s. No GPU needed.
- Download the server. On Windows, get
BeamMP-Server.exefrom beammp.com and install the Visual C++ Redistributables. On Linux, grab the build for your distro from the BeamMP-Server GitHub releases and installliblua5.3. - Create an AuthKey. Log in to the BeamMP Keymaster with Discord and generate a key. Keys are limited, and each one runs one server at a time.
- Edit
ServerConfig.toml. The server writes it on first launch. Paste your key intoAuthKey, then setName,Map(for example/levels/west_coast_usa/info.json),MaxPlayers,MaxCars, andPrivate. - Forward
30814on TCP and UDP (the defaultPort) on your router and firewall. The server is IPv4 only. - Add mods and keep it running. Drop mod zips into
Resources/Client, then run the server as a service on Windows, or in screen/tmux under a non-root user on Linux.
After that it is on you: replacing the binary by hand on every BeamMP release (there is no auto-updater), restarting after crashes, sharing your home IP with players, and absorbing DDoS yourself.
